Dr. Maude Fitzmaurice, DVM
Dr. Maude Fitzmaurice grew up in Washington, D.C., where she developed a deep love for the water, eventually earning her SCUBA certification in Belize. Her passion for the ocean led her to study Marine Biology for a year during college, where she spent her time diving The Blue Hole in Belize, enjoying night dives surrounded by bioluminescence in St. John, and exploring tropical reefs in Kauai. While her love for the sea remains a cherished hobby, it was through caring for her beloved childhood dog, Hobbes, during his cancer treatments that she discovered her true calling: working hands-on with pets and their families.Dr. Fitzmaurice earned her degree in biology from American University before spending nearly two years as an Emergency Veterinary Technician at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. Driven by her growing passion for veterinary medicine, she pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. After spending four years practicing in the NYC/NJ area, she has returned to her hometown of Washington, D.C.
Dr. Fitzmaurice's is committed to building lifelong relationships with her clients and their pets. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. She shares her home with two rescue pets: Ham, a Boston terrier/pitbull mix, and Pickles, a tabby cat.
Special Interests: Internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and preventive care.
