Dr. Cindy Cherness (she/her), DVM

Dr. Cindy Cherness is an accomplished veterinarian who blends her passion for animal welfare with a commitment to innovative, compassionate care. Growing up in Southern California, she developed a deep affinity for animals that led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Cherness earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Midwestern University in Arizona, where she gained comprehensive expertise and a profound understanding of animal health. Before her veterinary journey, she attended Bucknell University, majoring in Animal Behavior and playing on the softball team.
Dr. Cherness is particularly dedicated to Fear Free medicine, with a special focus on feline patients. She understands the unique needs of cats and strives to make veterinary visits as stress-free and positive as possible, enhancing both their well-being and the overall experience for pet owners.
At home, Dr. Cherness lives with her husband, who is also a veterinarian, and their two beloved cats, Korra and Bumi. Outside of work, she enjoys running, rock climbing, and reading, finding these activities both refreshing and inspiring. Dr. Cherness is excited to contribute her expertise and passion to the veterinary community in Washington, D.C., and looks forward to continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of animals and their owners.
